For the Garrity family, surviving the end of the world was just the beginning.

In 2020's *Greenland*, Gerard Butler's John Garrity, his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and their young son Nathan (Roger Dale Floyd) narrowly escape an apocalyptic comet, finding shelter deep underground in a militarized doomsday bunker moments before impact.

The upcoming sequel picks up the story five years later, exploring what comes next for the beleaguered trio. Answers include: radiation storms, tidal waves, mass destruction, and yes, more meteors.

In the just-released trailer, debuting exclusively with * *above, along with several new images below, we find the Garritys struggling to adjust to life inside the bunker. Nathan, now played by *Jojo Rabbit'*s Roman Griffin Davis, isn't letting the end times get in the way of his teenage angst.**

"I hate it here," he tells his mother in the trailer (though other living arrangements seem limited).

Fortunately for him, though, his subterranean home is no longer safe, presumably thanks to those aforementioned radiation storms. The bunker brass now believe their best bet for survival lies on the surface, inside the giant crater left behind by the world-ending comet. Apparently, the crater walls somehow prevent these storms from forming, and Allison thinks the area could have clean air and water.

So, John must once again lead his family on a dangerous journey to relative safety — this time in the exact location they spent the last movie trying to avoid. Along the way, they endure a harrowing sea journey, meet other desperate survivors, traverse rickety rope bridges, and dodge even more meteors, which seem intent on finishing the job their larger counterpart started in the first film.

"I'll take care of you both, to my last breath," John promises.
