Jensen Ackles' crime drama *Countdown *and Daniel Dae Kim's spy thriller *Butterfly* have both been canceled at Prime Video after just one season.
Created by Derek Haas, *Countdown* starred Ackles as a Los Angeles police detective recruited to a secret task force to investigate the murder of an officer at the Department of Homeland Security. He soon uncovers a sinister plot that puts millions in the city in danger. Jessica Camacho, Eric Dane, Violett Beane, Elliot Knight, and Uli Latukefu also starred in the freshman season.
"You want the stakes to be big," Haas said of developing the crime drama in *'*s *Countdown* cover story published over the summer. "I'd done a lot of reading about what kind of things task forces are put together to thwart, so I thought: What's bigger than a whole city being in jeopardy?"**

*Butterfly*, meanwhile, hailed from creators Steph Cha and Ken Woodruff and starred Kim as a former U.S. intelligence operative whose past comes back to haunt him in his new life in South Korea. Reina Hardesty, Piper Perabo, Louis Landau, Kim Ji-hoon, and Kim Tae-hee also starred in the freshman season.**

"It's been my dream because it represents the two major parts of who I am," Kim told *The Los Angeles Times* of the role back in August. "I'm a Korean who was raised in America, and these are the two countries that I love. Why not try and bridge the two cultures? I'm uniquely suited to do that."
Both *Countdown* and *Butterfly* debuted to positive fanfare this past summer, ranking within Nielsen's Top 10 streaming originals charts. Both titles also ranked on Prime Video's Top 10 in the U.S.
Among the freshman titles that were renewed at the streamer are the *Bosch* spin-off *Ballard *starring Maggie Q, the Benito Skinner comedy *Overcompensating, *and the hit mystery thriller *We Were Liars.*
