The initiative aims to build a "backyard village" on 1,000 acres of open land between the towns of Knowle and Wickham.&

However householders consider that the huge challenge will destroy their peaceful houses and rural landscape.

They usually have even given the new improvement an insulting nickname – dubbing it "Hellborne".

Despite obtaining planning permission in 2021, the event, spearheaded by the Buckland Group, faces staunch resistance from villagers who really feel ignored.

For the subsequent thirty years, locals anticipate dwelling next to a sprawling building website, a bitter capsule to swallow for locals who have constantly voiced objections.

Loraine Rappe chairs the Knowle Residents' Association and stated she has ceaselessly objected to the Welborne improvement.

She stated: "It is undoubtedly going forward, there's no stopping it.

"All we're saying is that it is a shame that they've began destroying what was already there, unnecessarily."

Ms Rappe informed MailOnline: "The [local] view is that they're saying one factor but in reality, doing something else.

"The actual annoyance is the destruction of all the shrubs and timber. Individuals have been referring to the whole improvement as Hellborne."

Residents of Knowle and Wickham declare the development has led to the felling of timber and greenery of their space, started to create visitors issues and has left the GP fearful over a high patient inhabitants.

Kayleigh Rooke set up a petition to 'Save Knowle Street Timber and Hedgerows' which have been impacted in the "first part" of the Welborne improvement.

The 35-year-old estimates 150 to 200 timber might be lost.

Miss Rooke slammed the "compete and utter disregard for a way the residents feel".

She stated: "So far as we are involved they're taking the character of Knowle Village.

"They are principally going to show us right into a concrete jungle."

Mark Thistlethwayte, Chairman of Buckland Group and an area resident, acknowledged his initial opposition.

'NO STOPPING IT'

Chatting with the& Telegraph, the 59-year-old confessed that initially he had been against any type of improvement on the location.

He stated: "I was a Nimby. When this was introduced some 18 years in the past, I was absolutely against it.

"However we've decreased the quantity of houses – it's come down from 10,000 to 6,000 – and we've vastly expanded the infrastructure and the inexperienced spaces, and all the things else.

"I faced the choice of, do I attempt to object and finally fail, or do I become involved and make it one of the best I can?"

It's stated the main improvement will primarily create a city between Southampton and Portsmouth.

The venture will function some of Britain's most eco-friendly houses, powered by a solar farm and a leading edge underground heating network that uses warmth pumps and faucets into a nearby reservoir.

Council chief Sean Woodward stated: '"Welborne is absolutely good news for& Fareham, offering high-quality new houses and jobs in a wonderful green setting.

"The council has secured virtually £400m for the essential infrastructure that may permit the event itself to go ahead, including faculties, roads, parks, transport, health and wellbeing amenities required to help the residents, staff and visitors to our new garden village.

"The council will proceed to steer on making Welborne a very particular place to reside in, work in or to go to."
