Sawai addressed the chatter in anInstagrampost shared on Thursday, May 8, sharing several behind-the-scenes looks at her Met Gala outfit. In the caption, the actress wrote, "Late but FIRST MET GALA🤍🤍🤍" before giving credit to her team, including her stylist Karla Welch. Sawai continued, seemingly giving a nod to Zendaya: "I know a lot of people have a lot to say, and trust me, I admire her too🤣🤍 But most importantly, I'm so happy with my look, so please be happy for me too xx." In an interview on the Met Gala carpet withAccess Hollywood, Zendaya's stylist,Law Roach, was seen reacting live to Sawai entering the carpet in a look similar to the one he curated for Zendaya. He jokingly said, "Oop! Who wore it better?" before laughing and walking off camera. Sawai made her Met Gala debut in a Dior outfit down to the collared shirt, white tie and wide-brimmed hat. One key difference in their looks was Sawai wore wide-legged pants while Zendaya wore flared.
