Fox after working together onSpin City It was announced earlier this month that Fox would be returning to on-camera acting with part inShrinkingfollowing his retirement in 2020 Shrinkingco-creatorBill Lawrenceis teasing another "iconic" star who is joining the Apple TV+ hit's third season. During a conversation with PEOPLE at theShrinkingFYC Event at Apple TV+ Emmy House, The Hollywood Athletic Club, in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 18, Lawrence, 56, revealed that he recently had a pinch-me moment while filming the upcoming season withHarrison Fordand newcast memberMichael J. Fox. Apple TV+ "The most amazing thing on this show, as somebody that grew up a product of TV and movies was on, we had a day this last week that Harrison and Mike and another iconic actor/actress from the same era were all on set working," he shared. "And I found myself going 'These are three of the main people that made me want to be in TV and movies, and they're all here. And they're all still just so funny and so sharp and everything that I wish they would be as people, much less as performers,' " he continued. "I didn't know what to make of it. It felt like my 15-year-old self, my head would have exploded." Christa Miller — who stars as Liz onShrinking— echoed her husband's sentiment, teasing, "Liz is having a relationship with some icon, an unnamed icon, that we shot last week that was the most fun and will be fabulous. I can't wait for everyone to see that." Miller, 60, also shared her and Lawrence's excitement for Fox, 63, joining the cast, which marks the star's return to on-camera acting since his retirement in 2020 due to his struggles from Parkinson's. "It's been great and he was only supposed to do one [episode] and he had so much fun," Miller shared of working with Fox. "I think we have a couple crew people that might have been onSpin City. Bill, the Doozers are really a family and Mike wanted to come back so we got to have him back again and it's been the best." "It's special to us," she added. "I love Michael. Michael and [wife]Tracy [Pollan]both and their whole family and so when he gets to come out again, it's great." Michael Buckner/Getty Fox and Lawrence first worked together onSpin City, which ran for six seasons on NBC from 1996 to 2022. The producer admitted that working with Fox again was nothing but a joy. "It wasn't really about the show, and I wish I could tell you it was," he admitted. "But for me to have essentially started my career with Mike and to see him on set again and to be talking to him between takes about jokes to do or things to try, or watching him ad-lib things and then afterwards when it's on TV, I'll get to take credit for it." "That was my childhood. I did not expect to be doing it again now for a lot of different reasons," he added. "And so yet another career highlight onShrinking. I did not expect to be having career highlights this late in my career. It's been very cool." When asked why Fox decided to do more than one episode, Lawrence responded, "Mike's got an open invite to work with me. He changed my life. So anytime he wants to work, he's still so lovely as long as we can do it in the confines of who he is and what he wants to portray, it's an open door policy." "But we said, 'Why [don't] you come and do one and see how it is?' " he recalled. "And he had such a good time. He made the mistake of saying, 'I had a blast', so I'm not an idiot. I mean, I'm like, 'Oh, cool, so I'll see you again in three weeks. We'll do two more.' And so he's been awesome."
