Tony Anderson/Getty A woman on TikTok went viral for sharing she'd been told by a bride that her outfit was "inappropriate" and didn't meet the "dress code" of the wedding The woman revealed on TikTok that she and her husband weren't told about the dress code and that they'd been invited to the wedding over text The groom, a friend of the woman's husband, admitted he never told the couple about the dress code, but the bride refuses to apologize When one woman arrived to a wedding on Friday, April 25, she had no idea that she'd be leaving before the reception had barely even started. A TikToker, whose name is Elisé and posts under the username is@ebrown_rn, started posting her multipart story to the social media platform after she, her husband, and their two kids had their evening plans cut short. In her firstvideo, where she's sitting in her car dressed in a patterned blue, baby pink and white dress, she starts her story by saying that the family had traveled two hours for a wedding of her husband's friend (the groom), but she didn't know the bride. They had only been there about "15 minutes" when the bride approached her to say that her outfit was "inappropriate" for the "dress code." She captioned the video with, "Got kicked out of a wedding reception for being out of a dress code I didn't know existed!" aire images/Getty Elisé goes on to say she "never got a wedding invitation mailed" to her house, her husband just received a text message invite, and to her knowledge, there was nothing included about a dress code. Following the first video, she included aphotoof herself and her husband, showing their coordinating outfits. Along with her spring-ready dress, she wore tan sandals. Her husband wore a matching dark blue suit with a light pink button-down shirt and matching tie. The story didn't end there, though. After her first video took off, commenters were clamoring for more information, so she provided "backstory" with more context, including clarification again that she did not know the bride and she and her husband were only friends with the groom. In fact, she says that the first words the bride spoke to her at the reception — where this went down — were her telling the woman that her outfit was not OK for the event. Your outfit is inappropriate. It doesn't match the dress code. There was a dress code, and I asked for people to wear these specific colors." But what really threw her for a loop was that the bride closed by supposedly saying, "Typically I would send people home, but since you came from far, I'll let you stay," but apparently in a way that this woman knew was not welcoming. The bride had also just asked Elisé's husband to remove his pink tie, because it didn't fit the dress code. So Elisé left, while her husband collected their kids. She says she was really put off by how "rude" the approach was, with the bride choosing to not even introduce herself. Her husband was also "hurt" by the interaction, she says in yet anothervideo, because it's one of his "long-term friends" and it was disappointing to not be able to spend time catching up with him and his other friends. People kept asking more questions in her comments, so she continued hervideoson April 26, saying the wedding was at 3 p.m. on Friday and the temperature was 85 degrees. She felt her light dress and sandals were completely appropriate for the occasion because that weather and time of day read "casual" to her. She also reiterated that she had not received any word about a dress code. Elisé says the text message detailed the time, date and location for the wedding only, and she jokes that it was messages between "dudes" and maybe that was part of the communication breakdown. In an April 27video, Elisé says the groom admitted to her and her husband that he never shared the dress code with them. However, the bride was refusing to take ownership for her actions and stood by what she said to the couple about the dress code. The woman says the bride has also asked for her to stop posting about the wedding on social media. But as she says in the video "respect, in my book, goes two ways" and she showed her respect by leaving her wedding, even though she doesn't believe she was shown respect. So she has chosen to leave the videos up. She pointed out that she did not identify the bride in any way, nor did she even give any information about the location of the wedding. Klaus Vedfelt/Getty The final kicker came April 28, when Elisé shared anothervideothat actually had the dress code. In a screenshot at the end of the video, the dress code colors were revealed to be "smokey gray, midnight blue, sunflower yellow and crimson red." The dress code also stated that the colors were to be worn in solid form only, no patterns. No white or black clothes for the women, no black for the men, and guests were to wear black shoes only. While revealing the dress code, Elisé says that if she had initially seen all these rules, she probably wouldn't have bothered going. Many of the commenters on the video agreed, noting how extreme it was. Read the original article onPeople
