'Grey's Anatomy' Boss Answers the Biggest Questions From That Explosive Season Finale (Exclusive)New Foto - 'Grey's Anatomy' Boss Answers the Biggest Questions From That Explosive Season Finale (Exclusive)

Grey's Anatomydelivered a surprise event episode to conclude Season 21, leaving multiple doctors' lives in jeopardy as the medical drama heads into the summer hiatus. Of course, the ABC medical drama didn't hirePiper Perabojust to play a grieving mother. When Perabo's character Jenna's daughter went into locked-in syndrome after Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) performed a risky brain surgery on the little girl, Jenna decided to take matters into her own hands. She grabbed a lighter and a tank of explosive gas from her husband's construction truck. She then coerced Amelia and Lucas (Niko Terho) to perform the surgery while holding Simone (Alexis Floyd) by the flammable gas tank. The rest of the hospital eventually became aware of the hostage situation, but they couldn't intervene until Amelia operated. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) interceded to deliver the necessary drugs for Amelia to make it through the surgery. When she was finally able to close, Jenna dropped the tank of gas on the floor and confessed that it had been empty the entire time – she just wanted to save her daughter. She collapsed into sobs as a SWAT team put her in handcuffs. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 The momentary relief allowed complications to grow between multiple couples on the show. Lucas and Simone made up after the stressful situation, but she still carries the guilt for hooking up with a stranger during their 24-hour breakup. To make matters worse, that stranger (Trevor Jackson) just arrived at Grey Sloane as part of the new intern class. Meanwhile, Jules (Adelaide Kane) confronted Winston (Anthony Bell) about dumping her from his service because feelings between them became blurry. And Teddy (Kim Raver) told Owen (Kevin McKidd) that she was finally done changing her life for him after she performed a daredevil heart surgery on the woman he slept with during their brief experiment with an open marriage. Relationship statuses for all three pairs will have to wait when Season 22 returns, though. Lucas and Alexis filled Jenna's husband in on how she held them hostage, and he revealed that he had no empty gas canisters on his truck. She must have turned the valve and released the gas in the hospital, meaning the flammable vapor was still swirling around the operating floor. Lucas ran to give the warning, but not before Link (Chris Carmack) lit up a bone fusing tool in the operating room Jenna had held Lucas, Amelia, and Simone in earlier that day. Meredith watched in horror from outside as a massive explosion erupted on an upper floor of the hospital, and Ben (Jason George) went running into the burning building. Parade caught up withGrey's AnatomyshowrunnerMeg Marinisto talk about that big explosion, who is in danger, and what all of this will mean for the next season. Related:ABC Announces Its Fall 2025-2026 Schedule Can you walk me through the calculus of having Link in the room where we think the explosion happened? Of all the doctors that could have had surgery in that OR, why Link? There are other doctors on that floor. We say that Bailey, Monica, and Jules are by the board. But with Link, we're Grey's Anatomy, and we always like to twist our happiness. We just told this beautiful wedding story in Episode 17. Link and Jo are married. They have this blissful, oblivious, beautiful storyline in the supply closet. They find out they're having girls. Then, of course, you can't just be this happy. The song in the Episode 17 promo was so sad, and that felt confusing at the time, but now it makes sense. But it also begs the question: Why are you doing this toJo?One, we don't know what happens. We don't actually know where that explosive gas is. Everything is up for grabs. Why do this to Jo? We didn't want to do anything to Jo, but I think that we've seen them come through such a happy season, and the iconicGrey'sway is always to throw another obstacle at them. We'll see if she has the strength to get through it. Obviously, again, we don't know what happens. We don't know where that tank was. But Link wasn't the only one. Nurse Linda was right next to him! And Teddy is missing. The only two people that weren't in that hospital that we know are Meredith and Ben. I know you can't tell me, but have you already decided who is in that explosion?Oh, yes. Definitely. What can you say about Ben's place at the hospital after he learned he wasn't being brought back as a resident?Obviously, it was a huge blow. His life may not be the one in danger right now, but his career is certainly in danger. How heartbreaking that is for Bailey! He wanted to do this on his own. He didn't want to be seen as Bailey's husband. But the way he operates, the way that he functions in his career, is that he puts lives first. It doesn't matter about the rules. He puts lives first. Sometimes that works out well for him. Sometimes that does not work out well for him. Based on what happens at the end of the finale, he has a skill set that other surgeons don't, and we will see if that is a way for him to appeal the decision that was made. We also find that Meredith has signed up for more time at Grey Sloan. Can you talk about what that looks like for next season? We always love showing Meredith in Boston. We love the Alzheimer's research, and we'll continue to show that because it is so topical and relevant, especially with the storyline where they discovered they are only using male mice. We'll definitely continue that. But I miss seeing her in the OR. I miss seeing her teaching. I miss seeing her in her element. There's also a world where, while she's operating, she's able to take her research even further because she's interacting with patients and their family members more. That taps into a resource. Do you guys have a list of traumas that you have yet to put these doctors through after 21 seasons? There's definitely a list somewhere. The list of what we haven't done is much shorter than what we have done. We have never done a gas tank, right? We've obviously done a bomb in a body cavity. We've done fires, but we've done it quite like this before. I also love the way we did it because we find out that she's not 100 percent evil. She's doing this because she's a destroyed mother. She thought that tank was empty. That moment where it falls and all of our doctors react is so heartbreaking because it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Of course, because it'sGrey's, we had to give it a twist. Prior to the explosion, Teddy told Owen that she was done. How was this different than the other times these two have been on the outs? It's all about hr speech. She names what I don't think has been named before. She has changed her life over and over again for him. Does anyone remember how amazing her German apartment was? She finally has the ability to walk away. I think she's been scared to walk away before. It's even more complicated with two kids, and she's actually his boss, but Teddy has an evolution through this episode where she was so scared to perform this crazy, insane surgery that seems like science fiction. Then she's able to pull it off, even with such an emotional component to it. I think there is this moment of, "I am strong. I can do this. I can pick myself. I can walk away and I'll be fine." And where is Owen's head at?He is adamant throughoutthe episode that he has feelings for this other woman, but he chooses Teddy. It's complicated. Is he saying that because it's true, or is he saying that because he doesn't want to completely decimate his life? I think he's blindsided. I don't think he thought Teddy would say this to him at the end of the episode. They've known each other for decades. They've been through war together. This is just a battle, and he was not expecting this. Related:Katherine Heigl Shares Why She's Grateful Her Daughters Aren't Interested in 'Grey's Anatomy' (Exclusive) Another pair in a complicated situation is Winston and Jules. She stands up to him in the elevator, and the language she used felt like a very valid HR complaint. What is that dynamic going to be moving forward? It's more complicated if people have been carefully watching, right? She's done a couple of things that suggest maybe it wasn't one-sided. She took him to the roof that time, and I don't know if I would have taken my boss to the roof to cure his fear of heights. If you've been watching the evolution of those two working together, it seemed like maybe they would get together. We were really interested in seeing what happens 20 years after the Mer and Derek relationship. We're in today's world where this is very frowned upon. It is not okay for a teacher and a student to have a romantic relationship. What does it look like when someone tries to follow the rules? Winston tried to follow the rules. He tried to stay behind the line, but the way that he did it was just so wrong. We wanted her to call him out on that, but she does before she says, "The lines were very clear for me." We'll have to see moving forward, was it as clear as what we saw on screen? Does she have any feelings for him? What is that working relationship going to be like moving forward? Does that mean anyone shipping them should be forwarded? To your point, it's not as simple as Meredith and Derek.I think anyone shipping anyone onGrey's Anatomyshould never think it's going to be simple. Nothing is going to be simple based on the fact that there's an explosion at the end of the episode. She's no longer an intern, but she is still a resident. She's got four more years to graduate. There is still a very clear line that needs to be made between teacher and student. Simone is someone else who is going to have a complicated situation when you return for Season 22. That also felt like a throwback to Meredith and Derek, when her hookup showed up at work. That trope still hits so well. That "Oh sh–t" moment that she has at the end of the episode. Alexis plays that great, and Trevor Jackson is so amazing. He only had a few lines, and he delivered them in a way that signals trouble for Lucas and Simone. We're really excited to pick that story back up. What can you say about how he's going to spice things up next season? We've only seen a little bit. But he definitely has an arrogance and an attitude that is a little bit too arrogant for a first-year surgical student, right? We're going to see a little bit of how that fits into our hospital, especially when Bailey is leading the residency program. To me, he's someone who doesn't care. He's here to be a surgeon. He doesn't care about the emotional mess over there. Do you have any advice or emotional support as they go into this summer hiatus after this cliffhanger? It's going to be okay. That's my advice. We're good. We're going to have another amazing ride. Related: Katherine Heigl Reveals What 1 Medical Trick She Thinks She Could Still Do After 'Grey's Anatomy' (Exclusive)

'Found' Boss Unpacks Gabi's Series-Ending ConfessionNew Foto - 'Found' Boss Unpacks Gabi's Series-Ending Confession

Foundtook fans on a rollercoaster ride in Season 2, starting with Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) on the run, his eventual arrest, and the hunt for his accomplice. Gabi (Shanola Hampton) also managed to get Sir's biological sister, Lena (Daniel Savre) into handcuffs by the end of the Season 2 finale, but the twists didn't stop there. Gabi went to the press for a briefing on M&A's latest case and told all of the reporters gathered outside the police station that she held Sir captive in her basement for nine months. The police had already decided not to pursue charges for Gabi earlier in the season because, without Sir's corroboration of Gabi's story, there was no way a prosecutor could pull off the win. Gabi has now taken the matter out of the police's hands and put her fate in the hands of the public. It was always important to Gabi to atone for what she had done to Sir. What happens to M&A now that the secret is out of the bag? We may never know because NBC made the decision last weeknot to bringFoundback for Season 3. That means fans will also be left in the dark about who attacked Sir in prison and left him for dead at the end of the finale. Parade caught up withFoundexecutive producerNkechi Okoro Carrollbefore the cancellation news was unveiled and she helped us unpack what she could of what wound up being the series finale. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Let's start with that last scene with Gabi confessing to the press that she's a kidnapper. Why was that the last image you wanted for this season? That moment had been there since the pitch [for the show]. I always knew we would end Season 2 that way because it is a requirement of her healing journey. She's really committed to healing. She has aired her sins to bare to her team. She spent all season looking for atonement and trying to heal and to really break the metaphoric chains that Sir still had on her, even though she wasn't in the cabin anymore. It's 20 years later. She finally realized that if she's going to really heal and really break this hold that Sir has on her, it requires no more masks. It requires no more hiding. It requires the whole world seeing her for who she is, forgiving her, and then she can truly start the healing process. Otherwise, there would always be something that Sir could hold over her. There would always be a secret that bonded them, and she was adamant that she needed her atonement. It begins with her forgiving herself, and there was no way for her to do that if she didn't lay her sins bare. What does penance look like for Gabi? The police have taken jail time off the table, or at least they did earlier in the season. Does this confession change that?I will say that Gabi isn't looking for special treatment or shortcuts. She confessed in the way that she did so that there could be no question of her guilt. What does that mean in terms of consequences? Everybody may have different thoughts on that and what her consequences should look like. For Gabi, specifically, she's not looking for shortcuts. She did what she did to finally be the person that's like, "This is what makes me different from the rest of them. And this is a legitimate confession. I'm willing to pay for my crimes." Sir also ends the season in a precarious situation. What can you say about how he ended up injured in that jail cell?It turns out there were a lot of motivations and a lot of suspects, including Sir himself, that could potentially be the reason why he found himself in the predicament he's in. Is there a world in which Gabi is willing to forgive Lena for what transpired this season? She does recognize that Lena was Sir's first victim, so they have that in common. Or does Gabi just want to put this chapter behind her?Gabi can empathize. She sees Lena as the victim she was, even if Lena can't see herself that way. But Gabi gave her a choice, and Lena chose to run out the door and try and shoot her. You can only help someone so much if they're not willing to help themselves. There's not going to be any love lost. Gabi believes in survivors. She believes in helping victims. She believes in saving lives and giving them a chance, but they have to want their life to be saved. Is there a chance that Jamie could join M&A? I imagine he's not too interested in going back to college after the journey he had this season.Jamie is finally home and committed to reintegrating into his family and making that work in whatever way that looks like. M&A definitely has a special place in his heart. If it's somewhere that he feels he needs to continue to be anchored to, or for part of his growth and healing, it is not something that Gabi would deny him. What was on your bucket list to explore in Season 3?One of the things that's built into the fabric of the show is really taking our time and giving each character space to explore their backstory and complete their healing journey. We're sort of meeting them halfway through. Obviously, Gabi was a significant portion of Season 1 and then Season 2 was Lacey and Margaret. I [was] super excited to delve into Dahn and Zeke's backstories, and Trent's, because he definitely has one. The show continues to move forward because we've teased peeling back the layers on each of them. They are all owed their sort of moment in the sun for us to really delve into their backstory and really complete this picture of who they are and set them on that final leg of their healing journey. US judge dismisses charges against migrants caught in military zoneNew Foto - US judge dismisses charges against migrants caught in military zone

By Andrew Hay (Reuters) -A U.S. judge in New Mexico on Thursday dismissed trespassing charges against dozens of migrants caught in a new military zone on the U.S.-Mexico border, marking a setback for Trump administration efforts to raise penalties for illegal crossings. Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Gregory Wormuth began filing the dismissals late on Wednesday, ruling migrants did not know they were entering the New Mexico military zone and therefore could not be charged, according to court documents. Assistant Federal Public Defender Amanda Skinner said Wormuth dismissed the charges against all migrants who made initial court appearances on Thursday. The migrants still face charges for crossing the border illegally. "Judge Wormuth found no probable cause," Skinner said in an email. New Mexico U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison, who filed the first trespassing charges on April 28, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The so-called New Mexico National Defense Area was established in April along 180 miles of the border. U.S. Army troops patrol the area and can detain civilians entering it. A second buffer zone was set up in Texas this month. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said the military would continue to expand the zones to gain "100% operational control" of the border. Migrants caught in the military areas face combined penalties of up to 10 years imprisonment, he said. But Wormuth pushed back against the charges, ordering Ellison on May 1 to show proof migrants arrested in the New Mexico zone were aware they had entered a restricted area. Defense attorneys argued warning signs in the area were inadequate to inform migrants they were committing a crime, a position Wormuth agreed with. "The criminal complaint fails to establish probable cause to believe the defendant knew he/she was entering" the military zone, wrote Wormuth, a former U.S. attorney appointed to his current position in 2009. He dismissed the charges in 98 cases filed this week, said Barbara Mandel, branch supervisor of the Office of the Federal Public Defender in Las Cruces. Some other migrants have already entered plea deals and will seek dismissal of trespassing charges at trial, she said. Mandel expected the government to seek stays on Wormuth's orders, then appeal. Up to May 9, Ellison's office reported charging 339 migrants for entering the New Mexico military area. (Reporting By Andrew Hay; Editing by Cynthia Osterman)

Kindergartener brought Jell-O shots to school, gave them out to students, says districtNew Foto - Kindergartener brought Jell-O shots to school, gave them out to students, says district

A Pennsylvania school has launched an investigation after it said a kindergartener brought Jell-O shots to class. The Greater Johnstown School District said in a statementshared to social mediaon Wednesday, May 14, that the student had given out alcohol in the form of "small jello shots" to three other students. Calling it an "isolated incident," the press release signed by Superintendent Dr. Amy D. Arcurio said "immediate action was taken" when staff became aware of the incident and the affected students were evaluated by the school nurse. Emergency medical services transported the students to a local hospital "out of an abundance of caution," where their parents were able to meet them. The statement said that the shots were confiscated and local authorities are working with the school to determine how the student obtained them. "We want to assure our families that the health and well-being of our students is our top priority. Counselors and support staff will be available for any students who may need assistance processing today's events," the statement said. Military commanders will be told to send transgender troops to medical checks to oust themNew Foto - Military commanders will be told to send transgender troops to medical checks to oust them

WASHINGTON (AP) — Military commanders will be told to identify troops in their units who are transgender or have gender dysphoria, then send them to get medical checks in order toforce them out of the service, officials said Thursday. A senior defense official laid out what could be a complicated and lengthy new process aimed at fulfillingPresident Donald Trump's directiveto remove transgender service members from the U.S. military. The new order to commanders relies on routine annual health checks that service members are required to undergo. Another defense official said the Defense Department has scrapped — for now — plans to go through troops' health records toidentify those with gender dysphoria. Instead, transgender troops who do not voluntarily come forward could be outed by commanders or others aware of their medical status. Gender dysphoria occurs when a person's biological sex does not match up with their gender identity. The defense officials spoke on condition of anonymity to provide details of the new policy. The process raises comparisons to the early"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, which at times had commanders or other troops outing gay members of the military who — at the time — were not allowed to serve openly. Active-duty troops will have until June 6 to voluntarily identify themselves to the Defense Department, and troops in the National Guard and Reserve have until July 7. The department is offering a financial incentive to those who volunteer to leave. They will receive roughly double the amount of separation pay than those who don't come forward. Initially, officials said the Defense Department would begin going through medical records to identify anyone who did not come forward voluntarily. That detail was not included in the new guidance released Thursday. While the department believes it has the authority to review medical records, it would rather go through a more routine health assessment process, the defense official said. Traditionally, all service members go through a health assessment once a year to determine if they are still medically able to serve. A new question about gender dysphoria is being added to that assessment. Active-duty troops who do not voluntarily come forward would have to acknowledge their gender dysphoria during that medical check, which could be scheduled months from now. A unit commander could expedite the health assessment. Under the new policy, "commanders who are aware of service members in their units with gender dysphoria, a history of gender dysphoria, or symptoms consistent with gender dysphoria will direct individualized medical record reviews of such service members to confirm compliance with medical standards." The defense official said it is the duty of the service member and the commander to comply with the new process. The department is confident and comfortable with commanders implementing the policy, and it does not believe they would use the process to take retribution against a service member, the senior defense official said. It comes after the Supreme Court recently ruled that the Trump administrationcould enforce the banon transgender people in the military while other legal challenges proceed. The court's three liberal justices said they would have kept the policy on hold. Officials have said that as of Dec. 9, 2024, there were 4,240 troops diagnosed with gender dysphoria in the active duty, National Guard and Reserve. But they acknowledge the number may be higher. There are about 2.1 million total troops serving. In a statement, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said earlier this month that about 1,000 troops already have identified themselves and "will begin the voluntary separation process" from the military. That can often take weeks. Trump tried to ban transgender troops during his first term, while allowing those currently serving to stay on. Then-President Joe Biden overturned the ban. The new policy does not grandfather in those currently serving and only allows for limited waivers or exceptions. Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth allege that troops with gender dysphoria don't meet military standards. Hegseth has tied his opposition to a campaign to rid the department of "wokeness." "No More Trans @ DoD," Hegseth wrote in a post on X. In a recent speech to a special operations conference, he said: "No more dudes in dresses. We're done with that s---."
