Stephen A. returned to New York on Monday after a red-eye overnight flight but was reprimanded by co-star Shannon Sharpe for "missing enthusiasm" on air.

The 56-year-old admitted he felt "under the weather" and took a back seat on Monday's broadcast.

But he announced he was "again" throughout a feisty start to Tuesday's edition of the sports activities debate program.

Smith shouted, "Did you miss me?! I ask that question because although I used to be on the air yesterday, I'll be damned if I used to be truly here.

"Shannon, respect you and Ryan Clark..I used to be a zombie. I was lifeless drained.

"I used to be the strolling lifeless. But I'm alive this morning!"

Stephen A. went on to credit host Molly Qerim together with his recovery, saying her "whack music" woke him up.

Fellow analyst Kendrick Perkins advised Smith had wanted an "IV" drip to get him back to full well being.

Stephen A. laughed, "Are you ready for this? I received a rattling IV yesterday, that's how tired I was. Sure I did."

Fans have been fast to comment on Smith's recovery, with one writing on X, "SAS is back at the moment."

And another wrote, "My man Stephen A is back on type."

It's already been a busy week on First Take, with Smith laying into Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson for his "choke" in the AFC Championship recreation.

While followers have been left wowed after Molly released a rare makeup-free selfie.

The ESPN host was seen on the fitness center donning shorts and a bikini along with a jacket and a backward hat.

First Take airs every weekday from 10 am ET to noon on ESPN.
