In the Academy Award-winning film *Hannah and Her Sisters*, Max von Sydow, after switching channels on a television set, asks Barbara Hershey, "Can you imagine the level of a mind that watches *wrestling*?!"
But his character was a dreary snob that nobody likes, and is also implied to be impotent, so there. Professional wrestling has been a major economic force for decades and a beloved pastime for millions.
Though not a man without his share of controversies, few helped make pro wrestling the juggernaut it is today like the mustachioed, bandana-wearing Hulk Hogan, who died on Thursday at the age of 71. Naturally, many flooded YouTube to rewatch some of his greatest hits — like his big victory at the first WrestleMania in 1985, or his turn as Thunderlips opposite Sylvester Stallone in *Rocky III*. Those looking for his final televised match, however, it doesn't exactly end on an up note for fans of the Hulkster.
Hulk versus Sting in 2011.
The year was 2011. People were listening to Adele, lining up to see *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2*, and quoting Charlie Sheen. Hogan was part of the TNA (Total Nonstop Action) Bound for Glory event, which broadcast over Pay-Per-View from the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. There were many high-profile matches that evening, including Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode, AJ Styles against Christopher Daniels, and, most controversially, Hulk Hogan opposite Sting. (No, not *that *Sting. A different Sting.)

As lore would have it, Hogan and Sting were fighting for "control of the company." The two gentlemen beat the snot out of one another for about 18 minutes, Toward the end, it looked like Hogan had defeated his challenger — the two were out of the ring, and the face-painted Sting was hurled up against the metal barricades separating the modern gladiators from the the screaming Pennsylvania fans.
Two men with paint on their faces square off.
In time, the action returned to the ring for a stunning reversal. With both beastly men bloodied, and with wrestler Ric Flair trying to aid Hogan to no avail, Sting put Hogan in a "scorpion death lock" — a move that involves the two guys rubbing their rear ends against one another. (You can see this all for yourself on YouTube, by the way.) Even the referee was upset when Hogan finally tapped out! What drama!
While this was not Hogan's final match ever, it was the last one people could watch from the comfort of their own homes.

In later years, Hogan still appeared at wrestling events, like at WrestleMania XXX in 2014, where he accidentally referred to the Superdome as the Silverdome, but his presence on the circuit diminished following a scandal in 2015, in which tapes emerged that included him using vile ethnic slurs.
For nostalgia's sake, here's Hogan making his mainstream movie debut in *Rocky III*.
