- "Could you come here please, honey?" Goldberg asked, while Herbie rolled out to the set.

- Goldberg then attempted to fist-bump and flirt with the robot, after raising red flags about the rise of AI.

Famous alarm-sounding artificial intelligence critic and injured party of a deep-sea virtual reality headset experience Whoopi Goldberg extended an olive branch — and her hand — to the robot community today on *The View*.

Following an interview with *Fantastic Four: First Steps *actress Vanessa Kirby, the EGOT-winning *Ghost* actress paused to tee up a segue into an audience giveaway, and summoned a robot pal to the set to assist her.

"You know something? Just before we go, I want to acknowledge the honorary fifth member of the Fantastic Four, Herbie the robot. Herbie, could you come out here please, honey?" the 69-year-old said, as Herbie wheeled in from behind the scenes.

"Hi, baby," Goldberg greeted as Herbie wheeled out toward her, beeping and booping in excitement over meeting the actress.

Herbie handed Goldberg a card with the* Fantastic Four* poster on it, but before he could continue the job he was programmed to do, Goldberg attempted to flirt with him, of course.

"Oh, well, good to see you, too. You look good," Goldberg said, while Herbie prompted her to read the card. "Oh, I know, I'll read it, but I just want to acknowledge that you look really good."

Herbie again responded with some electronic jargon, leading Goldberg to exclaim, "Oh! You so fresh!"

"Whoopi is in love with a robot," panelist Joy Behar exclaimed, with Golbderg confirming, "Yes, I am!"

After she composed herself, Goldberg delivered Herbie's message to the audience, gifting them all with tickets to see the new movie (in theaters Friday) in IMAX format.

As the show went to a commercial break, Goldberg got one more fix of Herbie's sweet metallic hardware, asking him, "Shall we fist-bump?" before making contact with his tiny chrome hand as the camera faded out.

In the past, Goldberg has strongly advised *The View* audiences against the dangers of AI, saying on a May 2023 episode of the show that Amazon Alexa is "listening" to you, and that she doesn't "want her in the house" at all.

*The View* airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
