Nathan Fillion has played many a comic book role in his career, from DC's chief Green Lantern Hal Jordan to Marvel's Headpool and Wonder Man. As his latest ripped-from-the-page character, that of Guy Gardner in this summer's *Superman*, continues to light up the box office, Fillion is now making a big move in the comic space.

The actor, also known for *The Rookie*, *Firefly*, and *Castle*, becomes a comic book creator with a new four-issue series for Dark Horse Comics, ** can exclusively reveal.

Called *Witness Point*, the story takes place in a bucolic town where residents are rocked by the news that they've been a dumping ground for the witness protection program for the past 40 years, according to an official description.

"And suddenly, nobody trusts their neighbor anymore...Plus, there's the dead body of the guy who claimed to be a U.S. Marshal to worry about," the synopsis continues. "Now, it's up to the town's sheriff, who's harboring a massive secret of his own, a female Marshal, and a crew of town weirdos to expose what's actually going on."

Heath Corson, a writer from TNT's *Animal Kingdom* and a slew of DC animated projects, joins Fillion as co-creator. Corson wrote films like *Justice League: War* and *Justice League: Throne of Atlantis*, which featured Fillion as the voice of Hal Jordan.

"Heath pulled me into his world for *Witness Point* and I knew we had to team up to make a comic series," Fillion tells EW in a statement. "I'm excited to collaborate with him — as well as my partners Michelle Chapman and Josh Levy — to bring this thrilling story to life with Dark Horse Entertainment. I love this project and can't wait to support it at San Diego Comic Con."

*Witness Point* is created through Fillion's Collision33 production company, which the actor runs with his manager/partner Michelle Chapman and development head Josh Levy.

As an early launch event for *Witness Point*, Fillion and Corson will be present at San Diego Comic-Con this week for a signing this Saturday, July 26.

It's a big year for Fillion in general. After featuring in a substantial role in *Superman*, which has already earned $407 million globally entering its second week in theaters, he will return as the brash, self-obsessed Guy Gardner on *Peacemaker* season 2 (premiering on HBO Max this August) and on the upcoming HBO series *Lanterns*, likely coming next year.

"Can you believe this? I can't. I'm pinching myself all the time," Fillion previously remarked to EW about his Guy Gardner role across the DC Studios lineup of live-action films and TV shows. "I collected comics when I was a kid. This was the reason I got in trouble for daydreaming in school was because I was thinking about superheroes all the time and drawing in the margins of my binder. It continually feels surreal. I can't believe it. God bless [writer/director/DC Studios co-head] James Gunn and the fact that he's just such a lovely man. I've known him for so very, very long, and he loves to work with the people he loves to work with."
